Palbir Grewal
Principal, Dental Surgeon BChD Leeds
Palbir qualified as a dentist from Leeds University in 1991. She worked in several dental practices as a dental associate for 15 years before taking over Adel Dental Practice in 2006. Since then she has continued to provide private dentistry as well as developing the practice further. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and loves chatting to her patients.
She spends her free time with her two children, enjoys travelling and socialising.
Ioan Smith
Dental Surgeon BChD Leeds
My name is Ioan (Prounced Yo-An), and I'm originally from the Isle of Anglesey, in North Wales. I have lived in my adopted home of Leeds since 1997. I graduated from Leeds Dental School with Honours in 2002, and gained the MFGDP (UK) Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006.
I have worked in both NHS and Private Practices in Leeds, Wakefield & Bradford over the last 16 years, and have a special interest in cosmetic orthodontic treatments (tooth straightening), composite bonding, and treating anxious patients.
I strive to provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with my patients, whilst working with the team to offer high quality dental care.
I’m married to Emma, and have two young children, Matthew and Caitlin, who both attend Adel Primary School. I enjoy spending time with the family, which usually involves taking Matthew to football training & local matches on the weekend!! I’m a keen supporter of Liverpool F.C, and also really enjoy watching Boxing, Formula One motor racing, and keeping fit. At home, Emma and myself maintain a strong Welsh – Irish rivalry when the rugby is on, but to date, we're still married!!!
Catherine Lightowler
Dental surgeon BChD Leeds 2004
Catherine is an experienced private dentist. She worked for an award winning dental practice in Knaresborough for over 12 years, where she developed her passion for dentistry.
Catherine has completed numerous postgraduate training course in restorative, cosmetic & short-term orthodontics & enjoys keeping up with recent advances in dentistry. Catherine also specialises in the treatment of anxious patients & holds a postgraduate diploma in sedation & anxiety management, which we are hoping to introduce to the practice in the near future.
Catherine is married with two children & she loves holidays, good food & wine, & spending time with her family.
Dominic O'Hooley
BDS (Liverpool 1993), MFDS RCS (England 2001), MFDS RCPS (Glasgow 2018), FFGDP (UK)
Dominic is a highly experienced implant dentist who has been placing and restoring dental implants for 11 years and undertakes all aspects including bone grafting, sinus surgery, guided bone regeneration and immediate full arch implant bridges.
Dominic lectures nationally and is involved closely with the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI)
and International Team for Implantology (ITI), as well as teaching for The Campbell Academy.

When not at work, Dominic is married to Rebecca with five children and loves walks in the
countryside, trail running and reading as many books as he can!
Zahra Akhtar
Dental hygiene therapist
Zahra started her dental journey in 2009 where she graduated from Kings College London. She gained valuable experience working in community dental clinics and carried out a voluntary vocational training program. Since graduating Zahra has been working in private dental clinics in London. In addition to this after relocating to Leeds, her time at Adel Dental started in 2017 where she added to her experience of working in a private dental practice. Zahra has also taken up work in an NHS practice working as a dental therapist to further increase her dental experience.
Over the years Zahra has attended various courses to better her knowledge of dentistry and has developed a passion for promoting excellent oral healthcare. Most recently she has been fascinated by the links between dental disease and general health and wishes to continue to further her knowledge in this field. In the future she wish to make a difference to oral health on a community level and is keen to further her knowledge in dental public health to fulfill this.
Poppy Irvine
Dental Hygiene Therapist
Having first studied Biomedical Sciences at Leeds University, Poppy then went on to qualify from Leeds Dental Institute as a Dental Hygiene Therapist in 2019 and shortly afterwards joined the practice.
Poppy is passionate about educating her patients regarding their oral health in a gentle yet effective approach.
When not working, Poppy can be found looking after her many animals.
Sharon Jones
Receptionist and Treatment Coordinator
Sharon joined the Adel team in November 2020 with 19yrs dental reception experience.
Outside of work Sharon enjoys country walks, swimming, and spending quality time with her family and two ragdoll cats.
